Day 1: Choosing to Love Myself and Own My Life
Day 14. Sunday, December 20th.
We awoke at 5:30, as Mira was working at 7. After preparing some breakfast & lunch for her (leftovers from yesterday morning’s cooking)- I drove her to work. We only have one car and today I needed that car to pick up my son, Michael, at the airport in the afternoon.
He was scheduled to arrive around 12:30 pm. Generally I eat my first meal of the day around 11 or 11:30. Today, I decided I would wait a little longer and take Michael straight to the farmers’ market. It runs until 2pm on Sundays and they have plenty of delicious, high-quality foods.
First, however, I needed to get some work done. For my clients, I have created a supplement guide. It lists every product I ever use or recommend and includes all relevant information (name, brand, dose, duration, price, ordering info, etc.) I needed to get an email out to a client of recommendations which included some products I hadn’t added to the guide yet. After spending over an hour working on that (adding the new products), there was a loud bang outside. The power flashed off, and then back on, and my work was lost.
Awesome.
This would have generally sent me into a frustrated rage. (My computers/phone, etc. are always out to get me). Instead, I took some time, did a few minutes of Heartmath, took Marley for a walk, and did a few minutes of rebounding. Much better.
I decided to switch gears and work on getting caught up on these posts. Friday (Day 12), was next up. I debated between writing a “normal” post and elaborating and sharing a bit of personal information. After realizing I couldn’t just drop “and then I sent an email letter to my biological mother for the fist time in between breakfast and a business call, I decided to give you all a bit of backstory. (See day 12’s post)
The response to that post has been amazing. Dozens of people commented, messaged, texted, or emailed me. So…thanks for that!
After I finished the post, I checked my phone and saw that Michael’s flight was going to be an hour late. No farmers’ market, but I decided to hold off on eating.
He landed around 1:30 and after stopping at home to drop off his bags, we walked over to OB Noodle House. It’s a bit of a local icon, having been featured a couple times on the Food Network.

We had some pho, spring rolls, and a couple chicken wings. Not 100% optimal, but not bad either. I had allowed myself to get too hungry (should have snacked). After lunch, we walked Marley and then watched the Blackhawks (hockey) game. I also showed Michael the pictures and letter from my biological mother of her, and his biological “aunts” and “uncles” and “cousins”.
We picked Mira up from work, came home, warmed up some leftover BBQ pork and mashed butternut squash for dinner, and went to bed early. We’d all been up very early.
I totally forgot to take any pictures during this day–> sorry about that!]]>
