Day 1: Choosing to Love Myself and Own My Life Day 15. Monday, December 21. Just a heads-up, these posts are going to be a little abbreviated for the few days Michael is here. I don’t want to take as much time on the computer, writing the posts, etc… while he’s here – so I apologize for the brevity! Will return to normal posts later this week! (I also forgot to take pictures this day again!) We woke up around 8am, which is the latest I’ve slept in as long as I can remember. (We have a new strategy of feeding Lulu (cat) right before bed to prevent early morning meowing. It seems to be working!) We took Marley for a walk and just lounged around a bit. We had scheduled Michael a session with our local kettlebell trainer, Rhonda (who you’ll meet soon), which was at 11:00. Michael’s friend is also in San Diego currently, so he came over for the day. We had some bacon, nuts, and fresh fruit late morning, went to the park for their training session, and watched them learn. It was both of their first experience with kettlebells, and they did pretty well! Rhonda is a very good trainer, and has worked with Mira quite a bit. Kettlebells are probably my favorite training tool. They’re highly versatile, can be used just about anywhere, and produce great results. Oh, and they’re fun! I picked up a couple of Rhonda’s bells while the boys were training and tried a few movements. I was able to do everything except shoulder presses without any pain! Good news! After the workout, the boys went on a college visit with Michael’s friend’s mom. I took that time to re-do the work I lost the previous day, and to write up a blog post. When the boys got back, they walked down to Newport Ave. (main street in Ocean Beach) and got some tacos at one of our favorite local taco shops. Mira had picked up a bunch of things at the store to get us ready for the week food-wise. I made a large batch of meatballs with red sauce and spaghetti squash. Michael got back and we threw on the Bulls (basketball) game, while finishing cooking. Mira made some Asian-style ground beef that we had over rice with a mixed greens salad for dinner. After dinner, we had (I had) the crazy idea to go to Target and buy a game we could all play. It was bonkers and my first taste of holiday chaos. To say I’m not a fan of the Christmas season would be an understatement. Luckily, we live in a neighborhood where the holidays come and go without anyone really noticing. I don’t venture out of OB much, and we don’t have TV, so I don’t see it there either. It’s my own perfect “winter wonderland,” We survived the zoo at Target, but were exhausted when we got home, so again we went to bed early. We’ll try out the game tomorrow!]]>
