Day 28: Sunday, January 3rd.
Mira worked, so I was up at 5:30 prepping breakfast and lunch. If you’d have told me 5 years ago that I’d voluntarily wake up at 5:30am for ANYTHING, I would have told you that you were crazy. I went at least 12 years of my life without going to sleep before midnight. Probably not even once. The idea of being a “morning person” was completely foreign – I even held ridiculous animosity towards people who started their day early. I viewed them as part of the “system” that was “keeping me down”. Damn the man!
Rant over.
After Mira went to work, I went through my morning routine, which has gotten a little bit of an upgrade. (See Day 27) I felt pretty awesome… and then tech hell happened!
I had scheduled 8am-10am to record two interviews (the last for our Healthy Babies series) with Jaclyn Downs, an awesome health practitioner, Doula, and researcher. I think we actually got started around 8:45, after having to recruit Joe onto the Google Hangout to help with some audio issues we were having. By the time we finished the first interview, it was close to 10. Morning shot. We took a 20 minute break for a little brain rest and refreshments, then got back at it. It was almost 12:00 (two hours late) by the time we finished the second interview (and finished chatting – we tend to talk for a LONG time – I work with AWESOME people).
I was very hungry by 12:00 (later than I generally go without eating), so I heated up some leftover Hawaiian pork that Mira had made in the Instant Pot (greatest kitchen gizmo ever, btw). I put that on top of a warmed up leftover Asian sweet potato (the best potato on Earth, IMO) – with a side of grapefruit and a big spoonful of Jambo Superfoods CBD-Infused Ghee! Yummy lunch!

I was leaving at 2pm to go to the movies (Quentin Tarantino’s new one – The Hateful Eight), so I had to make a choice. Try to get some work done, or do my kettlebell workout. My legs were still quite sore from my total body workout on Saturday and my run on Sunday (approximately two miles in 21:59 – I’m practically a professional!) (yeah right) – so I opted to do some work and do the workout Monday, in addition to the yoga class I’m going to be attending Monday night.
I did some work, sent some emails, took Marley for a little afternoon walk, and then hailed a Lyft (like Uber) to the movies. For the Tarantino fans out there… I’d rate this one 4th or 5th best of all his movies. Not great, but good – and for the film purists, I saw it on special 70mm film, which is pretty incredible.
After getting home, I made a special dinner of spicy stir-fry shrimp over rice because it was one of Mira and I’s several anniversaries. (Which she remembered in the late afternoon – we’re not much for things like that) This was delicious, and there’s a lot of leftovers. (Wild caught shrimp were on sale at the local Sprouts (like Trader Joe’s, but a little better) after New Year’s, so we loaded up!)

I did a solid planning session (and dishes) after dinner, and headed to bed by 9:45 – and went to sleep after a little reading. I’m currently reading the book “Never Eat Alone” per a friend’s request/gift. (Thanks, Pete!) So far, it’s pretty cool – all about building relationships which lead to business/life success! My favorite thing to do!
On to tomorrow!]]>
