Day 40. Friday, January 15th.
We were up at 5:30, Mira off to work before 6:30. I then breezed through an abbreviated 30-40 minute morning routine. (Pretty much only journal, meditation, and Marley walk) Still trying to get caught up (and ahead – with impending family visit/time off).
In the morning, I had a great phone meeting with a representative from Jackson’s Honest potato chips, regarding out Discount Club. It’s not 100% yet, as we’re still working on details, but they’re very interested in partnering with us, as we are with them! Jackson’s are organic potato chips fried in coconut oil. Optimal food? Perhaps not. The best potato chip (taste and health-wise) on the market? We believe so! Careful, it’s impossible to stop eating them!

After a little block of work (mostly writing emails to clients and ordering lab tests) – I hopped on the phone with an old mentor of mine. Bob Florentine is someone I met when I was very active with Viridian, a green energy (network marketing – the “evil” MLM!) company. I learned a LOT from Bob in regards to putting together a team, motivating myself and others, honest and integrity-filled business (and life) practices, and how to be successful. Viridian is a really good company which basically offers a greener (and cheaper) alternative for people in a number of states, when it comes to choosing their gas and electricity providers. It’s not available everywhere, but it is in at least a dozen states. They’re running a big natural gas promotion (with carbon offsets) right now, so I talked to him to get the details so that I can reach out to all my friends/family in Illinois and let them know of the deal!
NOTE: Let me know if you’re interested in going green(er), saving money, or making money via Viridian!
A lot of people knock network marketing (or MLM). Personally, I feel it a much, much better structure than the corporate pyramid scheme. I learned so much from my time spent actively involved in Viridian, and have been collecting a small but solid commission from them every month for the last 4+ years because of my efforts I made. Residual income is more powerful than money you spend time working each month for, I firmly believe that.
Speaking of residual income… we’re about to fully roll out an amazing affiliate program for those who are interested in getting paid to share their favorite Rebel Health Tribe content (including this article)! If you’re interested, look for (and ask to join) the Rebel Health Tribe Affiliates group on Facebook or email Jessica (our Ninja) at [email protected]! We appreciate so many people sharing what we’re doing, so we’d like to give back to those who are doing so!
Lunch time was a hodgepodge of leftovers. The last of the Thai shrimp stir fry, along with some French apple breakfast sausage from our pork CSA at Sonrise Ranch (so good – maybe best breakfast sausage ever). I also threw in a little homemade sauerkraut and a kiwi! (Love me some kiwi)

Mini Lunch Buffet![/caption]
After lunch, I took Marley for a walk through the park and along the river. When I got back, I fired up the Qigong video in Module 3 of our Primal90 Program – led by local Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture wizard, Lucas Hausler, LAc. It’s between 20-25 minutes in length (I’m not sure), and I felt fantastic after finishing. For those who aren’t familiar, Qigong is a rather ancient practice of moving meditation, energy movement, and breathing. (Best I can describe it) I highly recommend checking it out, I always feel great after any Qigong – even the 5 quick minutes I do in the morning!
This was my “work out” for the day, but it’s much more along the lines of working “in”. We explain the difference in Module 4 of our Primal90 Program. Working “in” would consist of most yoga, Tai Chi, Qigong, breathing exercises, walking, and other activities which generate/build energy vs. expending energy (working out). A balance between working “in” and working “out” is essential.
The afternoon consisted of more work, and then a trip to the co-op to buy some food for the upcoming weekend. I would be cooking dinner for Mira’s parents (flying in tomorrow afternoon) and my parents (flying in tomorrow night), so needed to prepare! I’m making an Italian-style loaded meat red sauce and spaghetti squash.
Usually, in the “winter” (I put this in quotes because I live in San Diego), I wear my all-terrain slippers (the have a rubber sole) when I traverse around the neighborhood. (I loathe shoes with laces, well… shoes, in general) Today, when I got about a block away (co-op is 3-4 blocks away), it started raining. Slippers are not good in the rain. Lesson learned!

Dinner[/caption]
After hurrying back and trying not to slip/fall/injure myself, Mira got home from work, and I warmed up some leftover chicken (we made the same chicken from Death Valley – the Apple Butter BBQ Chicken – see that post for details!) overnight in the crock pot the night before. We put that on some leftover Japanese sweet potato (we bake 3-4 of those at once) and then sauteed up some kale. The picture isn’t very good, but it was tasty!
After we ate dinner and got to bed, it was close to 10pm. Then the baby elephant upstairs got really loud (it’s a human baby, but sounds like an elephant). After about 10-15 minutes of trying to sleep through it, I went up and let them know we had to be up super early and asked if anything could be done to stop the floor pounding. It got quiet for a few minutes, and then erupted again. Mira had fallen asleep at this point – and I tried and tried, but after another 10-15 minutes, I went back up there (our neighbors are really nice people and this is super awkward uncomfortable to do) and again asked them if they could control the noise (it was after 10:30 at this point).
By the time I fell asleep, it was well after 11pm. Gonna’ be a long, tired day tomorrow…
