Why is Thinking such a Big deal? Oh hey guys, Nick Horowski here. I was just kicking back, relaxing. It’s a beautiful day. The ocean is right here. The sun is high up in the sky.
And all I’m doing is thinking.
Now, why am I just thinking? Why is that such a big deal? Well, this is something that I was actually thinking about this week while I was down here. It’s later in the season. There aren’t many people here. So at night, it gets dark. I was just looking up at the stars the one night and just thinking.
The other day was also cloudy. There are not many clouds in the sky today, but I’m still watching some of them go by. And I was just sitting there, just kicking back, the dogs were out with me, and was thinking.
The muscle of the mind is just like anything else. You have to use it. It’s very important to continue to think, to stay sharp.
But this has been a re-occurring theme for me this week because I just recently interviewed Reed Davis for my podcast. And I asked him if he could take one piece of advice from his 8-year old self, what would it be. Then he sat there for a second and he goes, “Thinking…”
I thought that was very profound because thinking isn’t something you often think of—at least for me, for an eight-year old—but it made a lot of sense after he said it. He goes, “You know what? I’m a long drive away”—he lived I think in a more rural area, and he could sit out in the fence, and he could just sit there and think.
I thought about this. And I was thinking the same thing to myself. That’s unbelievable just to be able to sit there and take it all in.
As an 8-year old, that’s pretty profound. As a 31-year old, I still think that’s profound.
So, what’s are you doing? Are you making sure to just sometimes kick back and think? Because you can use this. Well, often times, with all these thinking –but maybe not deep reflection (that’s how I take it more)—I can watch the waves, and it can be a very meditative thing. But I’m not thinking about only that. I want to be very focused, be very aware and think hard on something. This might be a problem that I’m looking to solve.
For me, it’s really the strength game right now, getting back into a strong man. And I’ve been thinking about that.
I’ve also been doing a lot of reading this week. And the thinking that I’ve come up with is “I’m going to, just very intense, work out a month.” When I’m talking very intense, I’m talking two to three hours or maybe longer, but to put myself so that I can mentally be strong enough to go through something like this.
So, this is something I’ve been kicking back here and… thinking about.
So, I want you to think about it too. What is something that you could sit back and think about—and I’m thinking very deeply think non. It’s really going to have a profound impact in your life.
So, that’s what I would like you to go out and do, whether it be strength, whether it be nutrition, sleep, your job, whatever is really going to give you that boost of happiness, go ahead and think on it.
